Table Rock and the brink

A day in Niagara Falls — 6 stops, about 8.02 km on foot, 113 minutes walking.

A compact day around the Horseshoe Falls brink, starting underground and staying close to the water, with about 1.8 km of walking in total. Suits anyone who wants the falls from several angles rather than a long march, and who doesn't mind getting wet.

The route, in order

  1. Journey Behind the Falls

Start below the falls while you're still dry and the tunnels are quieter — the descent sets the scale for everything after.

  2. 1 min walk — Head southwest toward Trans-Canada Trl

    Table Rock Welcome Centre

The lift back up delivers you into the welcome centre, so it's the natural place to shed a poncho, warm up and eat.

  3. 2 min walk — Head northeast toward Trans-Canada Trl

    Niagara's Fury

Also inside the same complex, this indoor show fills the gap between the wet part of the morning and the afternoon — useful if the weather turns.

  4. 27 min walk — Head north toward Trans-Canada Trl

    Sushi and Oyster Bar

    Opens 17:00

Dinner is the pause in the day; the restaurant opens at 17:00, so the afternoon can run long without rushing.

  5. 30 min walk — Head south

    Horseshoe Falls

Back out to the brink after eating, when the light is lower and the crowds at the railing have thinned.

  6. 53 min walk — Head west on Trans-Canada Trl

    Cave of the Winds

The last stop is on the US side, so this is a border crossing rather than a stroll — plan documents and timing before you set out.
