Downtown, from daylight to dark

A day in Orlando — 6 stops, about 4.1 km on foot.

A downtown loop that starts with old architecture and independent art, then shifts into evening: a ghost tour, dinner in Thornton Park, and a lit-up finish on Church Street. About 4.1 km of walking, best for anyone who likes cities after dark.

The route, in order

  1. Historic Angebilt Building

Start on Orange Avenue with the 1920s high-rise, an easy orientation point for the rest of downtown's older fabric.

  2. Redefine Art Gallery

A short walk from historic facades to current work: contemporary pieces by local and emerging artists.

  3. American Ghost Adventures #1 rated and longest running ghost tour in the area

The tour picks up where the buildings left off, retelling downtown history through its hauntings as the light goes.

  4. Maxine's On Shine

    Opens 17:00

Dinner in Thornton Park afterwards, when the bistro is open and the comfort food suits a long evening on foot.

  5. Tower of Light

Back out into the dark for the illuminated tower, which reads best once the surrounding streets have quietened.

  6. Historic Church Street

End among the restored early-1900s buildings, where the bars and restaurants keep the night going after the walking stops.
