Warsaw

Your getaway to Warsaw

Start with the Old Town — compact, beautiful, and done by late morning. Coffee and a pączek on Krakowskie Przedmieście while the city walks past. Wander Łazienki Park until you find the palace sitting on its own lake. Lunch is pierogi somewhere with a chalk menu; you cannot really lose. Cross the river in the afternoon for Praga's rougher, older streets and a slow pace. Come back for sunset from the Palace of Culture's terrace, the whole city spread out. Dinner in Powiśle, where the restaurants spill onto summer sidewalks. One museum — the Uprising one — gives the city its weight without taking your whole day. End with a drink along the Vistula boulevards as the lights come on. A little of everything, and all of it good.
