Will I see waterfalls?

Maybe not. Yosemite Falls peaks April-June 730m highest in US, dry by Aug. Vernal/Nevada year-round but weaker. Check snowpack in April. May is roar month.

Is it insanely crowded?

Yes. 4.2M visitors, 75% June-Oct. Parking full by 9am. Valley shuttle free but packed 11am-3pm. Come before 9am or after 4pm. Bike is king. Tuesday quieter than Saturday.

Do I need a car in Valley?

To get there yes, unless YARTS bus from SF/Merced/Fresno $25-50. In Valley no – free shuttle every 12 mins, 12 miles bike path, e-bikes allowed. Glacier Point Road closed Nov-May, Tioga Road CA-120 closed winter.
