Siam malls, end to end

A day in Bangkok — 6 stops, about 5.39 km on foot, 75 minutes walking.

A day through central Bangkok's connected mall district, starting with cheap electronics and market stalls and working east into the bigger, air-conditioned complexes. About 3.4 km of walking, most of it on covered skywalks. Suits shoppers, families, and anyone wanting to stay out of the heat.

The route, in order

  1. MBK CENTER

Start at the crowded, low-price end of the district, before the stall vendors and the aisles fill up.

  2. 17 min walk — Head west toward M.B.K.

    Madame Tussauds BANGKOK

The wax museum sits inside the same building, so it's a short move upstairs rather than back into the street.

  3. 6 min walk — Head northeast

    Siam Paragon

Cross the skywalk east into Siam Paragon for a complete change of register: quiet floors, luxury brands, a large food hall.

  4. 22 min walk — Head west toward ถ. พระรามที่ 1

    Somboon Seafood

    Opens 11:00

Lunch once the kitchen opens at 11:00 — fried curry crab is the dish the place is known for.

  5. 23 min walk — Head east on ซอย จุฬาลงกรณ์ 8 toward ซอย จุฬาลงกรณ์ 5

    SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

Head down to the aquarium beneath Paragon, a good use of the flat hours after a heavy meal.

  6. 7 min walk — Head southwest

    centralwOrld

    Opens 10:00

Finish at centralwOrld, a few minutes further along the walkway, where the evening crowd and any seasonal events gather.
